Dynamic temperature measurement
Continuous optic temperature measurement in smelting plants is based on the use of a conventional optical fibre directly submerged in the smelt. The fibre optic cable transmits the temperature radiation to a detector. An accompanying controller calculates the respective actual temperature. The integrated control regulates the entire measurement process.
The direct contact with the smelt causes the glass fibre to be thermally and chemically damaged and worn during measurement. This wear is compensated during the measurement by continuous tracking.
